How to roll the R in Italian - try these tips
If you have started learning Italian you might have met the friendly ‘r’. I know, I know. It's not that simple to roll it.
If it’s any consolation, this is actually the last sound Italians learn, meaning that kids at the age of 4 still can’t say it!
I vividly remember how much my brothers and I giggled at a little girl who instead of saying ‘rana’ would say ‘dana’. Cruel, I know, but that's the reality. And that’s why some parents send their young kids to speech therapy, particularly if the child is getting ready to enter the schooling years.
So, it’s quite understandable if you are struggling with it. BUT you cannot give up and leave this sound behind.
I hope this video gives you some good tips and the Italian in you can fully be expressed.
And if it helped, please share it! GRRRRRAZIE (thank you)
Here is the perfect Italian tongue twister to accompany the video:
tre tigri contro tre tigri
(three tigers against three tigers)
and a taste of how this sounds like. It goes for 5 minutes, but you get the idea pretty quickly!
